There are many things to think about before leaving for your holidays and let's face it, airport parking is quite low on the list. However, neglecting it could cost you time, money, and hassle. Read the tips below and booking airport parking will end up smoothly and may even help you reclaim some of your precious vacation budgets.
Book prior Take advantage of the best deals! Many people leave it to the last minute and end up paying for it. Airport parking prices may vary by product and month. Try to book as early as possible as prices tend to increase as car parks are booked. If you book several months in advance, make sure your reservation is cancellable in case of unforeseen circumstances.
1. Choose a product that suits your needs.
Everyone has different needs and it is important to choose the right product for stress - free experience.
2. Onsite – best for being closest to the airport
On-site parking is usually managed by the airport itself and maybe the more expensive option. The advantage is that the car is close to the terminal.
Park & Ride - the best at low prices
After parking, you will be taken to the airport by shuttle bus. Of course, these car parks are located a bit further from the airport terminals, but they can save you a lot of money.
Meet & Greet - Best for Convenience
With the Terminal Welcome service, you will be met by a fully insured chauffeur from the car park, who will often help you unload your luggage before entering the secure car park. Upon their return, they would meet you again outside the terminal and your car would be ready for the journey home. These services cost a little more than park and ride but are ideal for those with young families, heavy baggage, business travellers, individuals with mobility problems, or those who just want to treat themselves.
3. Check that your car is safe
Make sure that the parking you book has “park mark” accreditation. This indicates that the car park has been independently verified and meets all safety requirements. All comparison sites will show that the parking lot has been rewarded by placing the parking brand logo next to the product. Nobody wants to come home with a nasty surprise!
4. Check the transfer time
If you have opted for a Park and Ride product, be sure to check the estimated transfer time at the airport terminal. Anything that takes up to 20 minutes should be fine, but remember if it is longer, this will need to be factored into the travel time. Don't make the mistake of leaving too little time and potentially missing your flight. It is worth noting that some on-site parking products also run a transfer service to the terminal, this is likely only at larger airports but it is always a good idea to check.
